Just like us, the government has to receive income in order to spend. Just like us, the government has to save before it buys things. Just like us, any shortfall is funded by debt. This doesn’t reflect reality at all. In this talk, Morgan examined exactly how the New Zealand government spending works and how we can provide a better basis for public policy. Unlike us, government spending starts and ends the day at zero. This is just the way it is.
